All are welcome to the Lordsbridge School of Theology from 7.30pm on 25 October. This is part of a series on Ethics and is entitled ‘Living reality – life and death’. We will be exploring these issues with Revd Professor Michael Reiss.
Below is a message from Canon Mike Booker about the evening:
“This is a reminder that the Lordsbridge School of Theology meets again this coming Sunday evening from 7.30 to 9.30pm in the parish room in Coton (the door around to the left hand side of 70, High Street). You are welcome to come to this evening whether or not you have been following the series during the course of the year.
Michael Reiss is Professor of Science Education at King’s College, London, and also an assistant priest (when he has a moment in his busy life) here in the Lordsbridge Team parishes. He travels and lectures world-wide, but this week he’s with us!
Michael will be looking at issues of life and death, and in particular a theological response to abortion and to assisted dying. This is serious stuff, and very topical.
Please feel free to invite anyone else you know who is up for some serious theology. We’ll ask for a donation from those who have not signed up for the year.
One quick extra thought. This is not simply theoretical material. Even more than war and peace, this month’s material and next month’s, when we look at sexuality, are about life, and specifically about our own lives. All of us will be affected in some way by the issues, some of us in a very immediate and personal way. Let’s be ready for some deep and serious thinking, but please remember that we are also here to care for and to respect one another, so let’s be thoughtful about what we say and how we say it.”
