Dear friends,

I hope that you and your family are well and have been, or will be, able to take advantage of some family time during the summer holidays. However, this summer is like no other.  We have not only the current heatwave to negotiate, but household bubbles and social distancing, the lack of many of the usual childcare and summer club facilities, and limited options for holidays away. Here at St Mary’s we are very sorry not to be able to offer the usual ‘Summer Afternoons outdoor cafe’, but are very excited that the new cabin at St Mary’s will be part of the cafe next summer.

So in the meantime, and to help you with things to do with children and grandchildren this summer, I am offering links to two sheet one for indoor activity and one for outdoor activity ideas which you can download, each with a prayer or a mindful thought for you to use together. These come courtesy of the team at The Diocese of Blackburn but with our full endorsement and the endorsement of the group of village churches, known as the Lordsbridge Churches, to which Hardwick belongs.

And don’t forget that the playground next to the church is open, and there are seats in the churchyard that can be moved to a shady spot under the trees.  The church building is currently open on Thursdays, and there is a produce stall and foodbank drop-off point in the porch which is open on any day of the week.  Feel free to come and visit.

With love and prayers,

Alison
