Light as a feather
A finger touched me,
Branded me cross-shaped,
Smudged me with ash.

Light as a feather
God’s finger caressed me
With a sign of forgiveness,
Marked me with love.

Light as a feather,
Penitent, shriven,
Signed with his life-mark
I go on my way.
